A 69-year-old woman has died, and six others were injured in a two-vehicle crash late Saturday night in Vaughan. Emergency crews responded to the scene at the intersection of Highway 27 and Rutherford Road around 11 p.m., where one of the vehicles was reported to be on fire.

York Regional Police confirmed all passengers managed to escape the burning vehicle before help arrived. Sadly, the female passenger was later pronounced dead, while six others were taken to nearby hospitals, though the severity of their injuries is unclear.

The intersection remained closed overnight for investigation, and police are advising drivers to avoid the area.
