A woman in her 70s has died after being struck by a van while crossing the road in Toronto’s west end on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Lansdowne and Lappin Avenues, south of Dupont Street. Police say the woman was in the crosswalk when a van making a left turn onto Lansdowne hit her.
Bystanders attempted life-saving measures until paramedics arrived. The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the van remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The cause of incident remains under investigation.
