Ottawa police are investigating a fatal collision near Richmond, Ottawa that claimed the life of a 63-year-old woman late Friday afternoon.
Emergency crews responded to a head-on crash on Franktown Road around 5:15 p.m. Firefighters were called to free a woman trapped inside a small passenger vehicle, using hydraulic equipment to remove part of the car. Emergency crews immediately began life-saving efforts, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A man involved in the crash was taken to hospital in stable condition with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Police closed Franktown Road between Conley Road and Joy’s Road to conduct their investigation and advised motorists to expect major delays in the area for several hours.
