A 38-year-old woman is in critical but stable condition after her vehicle left the roadway and struck a hydro pole in Clarington Monday morning.
Durham Regional Police responded to the single-vehicle collision on Energy Drive near Holt Road, southwest of Bowmanville, around 7:25 a.m.
Police said the woman was driving a black 2025 Nissan Sentra westbound on Energy Drive when the vehicle veered off the road and hit a hydro pole on the north side.
She was transported to a Toronto trauma centre with serious injuries, which were initially described as non-life-threatening. Her condition was later upgraded to critical but stable.
Energy Drive was closed for several hours. The investigation remains ongoing.
