A 29-year-old woman has died after being hit by a truck at a Brampton intersection. Peel Regional Police say the collision happened just before 6 p.m. Thursday as the woman was crossing at Queen Street West and McLaughlin Road. A cube van travelling east on Queen Street turned right onto McLaughlin and struck her.
The woman was rushed to hospital with critical injuries and later died. Police reported that the driver did not stop immediately after the collision but was pulled over a short distance away by nearby officers. Investigators noted the driver may not have realized a pedestrian had been struck due to the size of the vehicle and confirmed the driver is cooperating.
No charges have been announced. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact investigators.
