A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Aurora early Monday morning, according to the York Regional Police.
Officers were called to the area of Goulding Avenue and Wellington Street East at about 2:30 a.m., where they found a pedestrian with critical injuries. Paramedics responded, but the woman later succumbed to her injuries.
Police say the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. No arrests have been made and no charges have been laid as authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Road closures were put in place during the initial investigation but were lifted several hours later.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage to contact police or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
